Bustos Launches New Virtual Conversation Series: Above the Fold with Cheri Bustos

ROCK ISLAND – Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) launched the first episode of her new conversation series “Above the Fold with Cheri Bustos”.

Voter connection looks differently this year, and engaging with voters digitally has become essential. Congresswoman Bustos is introducing Above the Fold as a way for voters to hear directly from her on issues like health care, rural broadband and protecting Social Security and Medicare.

Having spent more than a decade as an investigative journalist, Congresswoman Bustos will utilize her skills to interview an expert guest on the topic of the day and discuss how Northwest and Central Illinois is impacted. Each conversation will be streamed live on Zoom.

This week, the Congresswoman will sit down with Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) to discuss voting rights. Next week, she’ll join Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-2) to talk about access to affordable health care in Illinois.

“This November, access to health care, COVID-19 response and relief, voting rights and broadband are all on the ballot. And while the pandemic has changed how we connect, it hasn’t changed how important these kitchen table issues are to Illinoisans,” Congresswoman Bustos said. Above the Fold will bring a local lens to national conversations, so that voters casting their ballots know exactly where I stand on their top priorities.”

Now in her fourth term representing Illinois’ 17th Congressional District, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos is a leader in the fight to lower health care costs, rebuild our region’s infrastructure, help Illinoisans navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and deliver real results for hardworking families across Northwest and Central Illinois.
